General Meeting at the LeRoy Township/Village Hall – Monday, July 11, 2011

Alan called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm

Dale motioned and Terry seconded to approve an amended agenda; to table until next regular meeting, Adult Business, and Updates to Land Use Plan. Motion carried.

Bill moved, and Keenus seconded the approval of minutes from the 4/11/11 meeting – carried.

Zoning Administrator’s Report

Zoning Administrator activities have picked up slightly for July.

Township Board Representative

Dale reported that the Township had received a request from the Village Council for the township planning commission to take over zoning and planning responsibilities for the Village. The Village is offering to pay the Township $1000 a year to assume this duty. The Township Board wants to know if the planning commission will do it.

There are already two village residents on the township planning commission, and this would remain a requirement. It would also mean that the duties of ZoningAadministrator would be transferred to Trevor Flint. The group agreed that such a move would beneficial for all involved. It would provide for better coordination between the Village and the Township.

Sign Ordinance

There wasn’t much conversation since the ordinance is all ready to go to Public Hearing,

The date set for the public hearing is Aug. 1st.

Recreation Plan Update

Mike reports that the grant is still being worked on. The plan is online at www.leroyvillagecouncil.org

Action Items

• For next regular meeting -- Trevor will bring definitions for a sexually oriented business, and recommendations how best to rezone a piece of commercial property for that use

• Brian will post the August 1 public hearing around town, and to the Cadillac newspaper

• Dale will report to the Township Board that the planning commission will accept the responsibility of planning and zoning for the village

Terry made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:48 p.m., Keenus seconded – motion carried.
