Hanline’s resignation.
We reviewed the June 25,
2007 minutes and accepted them as is.
Joan informed us the Tustin
Area Senior Center is supposed to open in October. They have made improvements on the kitchen in
hopes they can prepare food for all local meal sites. Joan will check to see if anyone can use the
kitchen (i.e. jams, baked goods, Farmers’ Market).
Julie informed us she is
still working on the Planet Earth project and will continue to do so. Pastor Jodi has expressed an interest.
We reviewed the August 13,
2007 minutes.
Julie stated Jerry Lindquist
would be holding a meeting regarding the recycling brochure, date and time to
be announced.
Joan reported the Village
Council is interested in having designated bicycle campsites in the LeRoy
Memorial Park. Joan will work on
establishing the Johnson and Hall property lines. We discussed having a sign on the pavilion
specifying the area available for use and any rules. The village will be purchasing two toilet
seats for the outhouse. Discussed
possible toilet paper solutions. Julie
will check with the Bicycle Association to see what laws are regarding
establishing bicycle campsites.
Following are ways we
discussed to obtain volunteers and supplies:
newsletter, church bulletins, and posters in local businesses.
Discussed working on a five
year plan this winter for replacement/repair of village sidewalks.
Discussed planting trees in
designated areas, possibly spruce or pine.
Julie will talk to Jerry
Lindquist regarding preservation tools and environmental issues. Would like to make LeRoy an educational
training center.
Julie feels the need to
preserve the rural parts of our township and concentrate building in specified
areas.
Julie noted there is a
Cadillac Land Conservancy meeting in late fall she would like to attend. She is interested in someone else attending
also.
Julie read a letter she sent
JoEllen Ekins in reply to the letter she sent to the Recreation Committee and
the Village Council expressing concerns with LeRoy issues.
After discussion it was
decided to rename this committee the LeRoy Quality of Life Committee
(LQL). Following are some descriptions
to express the purpose of this committee:
1.

2.
develop a vision for keeping a balance between natural space and
development
3.
beautify
4.

5.

Julie questioned burning
(cars, etc) done by the state on the border of the village. Wonders what contaminates are released into
our ground and air.
Julie talked to Terry
Johnson to see if he would be interested in having trees planted along his
property boundary down the exit ramp. He
was in favor.
Decided to encourage
interaction with Love, Inc. as they accomplish many projects that help
community. This interaction would allow
community members to obtain meaning and purpose by investing in their
community.
The next meeting date will
be October 16, 2007, 7:00 p.m. in the village/township hall.
Julie adjourned the meeting
at 9:00 p.m.
