Below is the portion of the
letter that addresses 15 Mile Road at the intersection of M-115:
MDOT-Cadillac, TSC (Transportation
Service Center) confirmed that MDOT’s
Geometrics unit provided the recommendation to close the west leg
of 15 Mile Road at the intersection of M-115. The end of the
westbound M-115 passing relief lanes which end just to the east of
this intersection results in M-115 traffic approaching this
intersection at higher than normal speeds. This intersection is
midway up a hill and therefore has limited sight vision. This
potentially deadly combination plus the proximity of the nearby
major intersection resulted in this recommendation. This leg of
the intersection cannot be reopened.
